Stinnett Music was created thirty-four years ago when I published my first book. At that time it was uncommon to produce and distribute your own product. But my desire to maintain the quality and integrity of my work led me to start my own business.

In those days we did not have computers. I remember buying this new fangled piece of technology. It looked like a sleek typewriter. It was called a “Word Processor” and had a memory of 100 words. This was how we wrote and produced the text for our first books.

“I really never intended to write books. I just wanted to copy the great bass players. After working with Red Garland I was inspired to learn to play like Paul Chambers. When I transcribed so much PC that I started forgetting it, I began to write it down. After a few dozen pages, all my friends were asking if they could get copies. Jamie said, “Why don’t you make a book?” So, we published our first book, “The Music Of Paul Chambers.” - Jim Stinnett

Stinnett music operates on many levels today offering a wide variety of products and services. We sell books, basses, CDs, strings, videos, and audio files. We present numerous educational events on a regular basis - NH Bass Fest, Bass Workouts, Reading Clinics, Bass Ensemble performances, Clinics, and lectures. The Stinnett Music Online school services students from around the globe. We are a family run business with Jamie acting as vice president, chief editor, secretary, shipper, and really all things that need to be done well. Grant is very active creating new products and new music. He is the IT professional on our staff. His artwork adorns the covers of many of our products. Grant is a great educator and performer who spreads good will and acts as our ambassador every where we travel. Sarah is our photographer, and transportation coordinator. She puts her bass playing ambitions aside to help make all the logistics happen. Jessie is our artistic director and dancer. She brings some other world art views to our endeavors. Fred, well he sleeps a lot.

Many other members of our World Community have contributed to our continued growth and success. We have tremendous affiliates in numerous industry professionals and organizations. We are blessed and highly favored!
